Campus life
Housing
Summer housing is centrally located in UMBC's Harbor Hall, which features four-person suites. Most suites have two rooms (two people in each room), a common living area and a shared bathroom. Remaining suites are four single rooms that share a bathroom.
The summer online housing application typically opens in mid-April. You must have a UMBC ID to apply for housing. Summer housing is limited, so be sure to apply by the deadline to guarantee your space.
For questions about summer session housing, contact the Residential Life Office at 410-455-8832 or submit a Help Ticket.
Dining options
UMBC Dining Services posts open food venues and hours of operation before the start of summer session. Meal Plans are also available.
Retriever Athletic Center
The Retriever Athletic Center (RAC) has a variety of recreation options including FREE fitness and wellness classes for students, faculty/staff, and RAC members.
Events
There's more to UMBC than what happens in the classroom. Check this site regularly to learn about activities and special events for students.
- UMBC's Student Events Board (seb) hosts regular events on-campus during summer session.
- The Arts & Culture calendar provides information about dance, music, visual art, theatre, and other humanities events.
Student organizations
Student organizations are created and run by current UMBC students and offer a wide array of opportunities to get involved in your campus and local communities. Joining a student organization will broaden your perspectives, open opportunities, and deepen your connection and passion with interests and issues important to you.
Civic engagement
Make a meaningful difference by helping to solve problems, build communities, and empower others. UMBC is a national leader in preparing students to make a difference on campus and beyond. Learn how to imagine and organize social change projects, build powerful networks, and bridge differences in your community and beyond. During summer session, UMBC offers Special Programs that enable students to pursue meaningful civic engagement and community outreach opportunities.
Diversity and support groups
UMBC is one of the most diverse campuses in the nation. Our diversity is reflected through the activities of groups such as the Mosaic Center for Culture and Diversity, the Interfaith Center, the Women’s Center, LGBTQ, and many others. These groups exemplify our commitment to diversity and what it brings to campus life, while supporting students to build their awareness and knowledge of diverse people, cultures and belief systems.
